Jorge Arbache

Vice-President for the Private Sector / Development Bank of Latin America (CAF)

As vice-president for the private sector at CAF, Jorge Arbache highlights the need for public development banks to engage the adequate financial instruments in order to attract private investments for sustainable infrastructure projects that contribute to the climate transition in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Notably, an area of huge potential is the sector on renewables energies, which, according to the International Energy Agency cited by him, has the potential to grow from a current energy matrix of 6% to 96% by 2055. In order to achieve this expansion, the role of public development banks in setting the ground for private sector investment is to be recognized and fostered.
